Welcome to the Hotel

of Piet Hein Eek

When we first opened our doors on the first day of the Dutch Design Week, in October 2010, the aim was to create a physical space in which we could showcase what we do and make, in as broad a sense as possible. A shop, showroom, gallery, restaurant and event space were part of the plan right from the start. With the workshop as the beating heart in the middle of a building full of design, art and culture, we have realised a place that is valued and visited by more and more people; both locals and from far and wide.

With the addition of Hotel Piet Hein Eek, we intend to make the experience complete, and above all to make it even clearer that, with what we do, we try to create a good feeling in the most natural way!

This can best be seen on the second floor of the building where Hotel Piet Hein Eek is located. You are welcomed in the lobby, where the worktop serves both as reception, bar and kitchen. This is the living room of the hotel, where we do our very best to offer you not only a special experience but also, or perhaps most importantly, warmth and security. The restaurant is integrated into the lobby and is part of the Wonder Room. Here you can browse through artworks, antiques and design. French doors provide access to a large roof terrace full of greenery, shade and shelter.

Also part of the Wonder Room is ‘The Night Watch’, a meeting and breakfast room and an apartment. The Night Watch was made by Teun Zwets and is used at night by whoever keeps watch. The apartment will be a fully-fledged part of the Wonder Room and an example of how you can live with art, antique, design and music. The apartment and meeting room are linked by a large pivoting door. The doors are opened when the rooms are not in use, automatically making the spaces part of the Wonder Room.
