The booking conditions apply to regular bookings made via our reservation system, via e-mail or over the phone.
- The room prices are inclusive of VAT and excluding tourist tax.
- In the hotel, payment can be made using debit card, credit card and cash.
- Identification must be provided during your stay.
Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 48 hours before the booked date. Take into account that the arrival date begins at 00:00 local time. Should you cancel or alter your booking within 48 hours of the booked arrival time, or if you fail to show up, 100% of the first night’s stay will be charged. For example, if the day of check-in is 16 April, you can cancel free of charge up to and including 13 April.
- Due to corona, you can temporarily rebook your reservation free of charge. Bear in mind that the price of the room could be higher in the future and that you may therefore be charged additional costs.
1. Making a reservation and providing identification upon arrival
1.1. We will provide you with a booking reference number when you make a reservation. The booking reference number is proof that we have accepted your reservation. A reservation at the Piet Hein Eek Hotel is only guaranteed once we have provided you with a booking reference number.
1.2. Only guests who have registered upon arrival may enter the room(s).
1.3. In order to make a reservation, you must be at least 18 years old. When checking in, at least one of the guests must be at least 16 years old. We reserve the right to ask to see identification with photo (a driver’s licence, ID card or passport) as proof of age. If, upon presentation of identification, the person is younger than 16 years old, we can cancel your booking without refund.
2.1. The rate for each room is published on our website at the time of your booking through that channel, or in the case of a booking via telephone as was stated at the time of booking.
2.2. The room rates are per room per night and are inclusive of VAT and exclusive of tourist tax and other extras. You can add extras to your booking during the reservation process or during your stay.
2.3. We reserve the right to cancel bookings that are made using a special offer or discounted tariff that is not in accordance with these conditions.
2.4. All payment must be made in full at the time of booking, unless otherwise notified by us.
2.5. We reserve the right to cancel a booking if we have not successfully received payment.
3. Cancellations, alterations, no-shows and refunds
3.1. After you have checked in to the Piet Hein Eek Hotel, the booking in question can no longer be altered, unless this concerns an extension of your stay.
3.2. A cancellation or alteration to your booking of 1 to 3 rooms must be completed no later than 48 hours before the day of your original check-in date. The check-in date begins at 00.00 local time. For cancellations within 48 hours of the original check-in date, we will charge 100% of the first night.
3.3. Bookings for 4 rooms or more are seen as group bookings and therefore fall under the conditions for group bookings. A period of seven days before the original check-in date is used here.
3.4. Due to corona, reservations can temporarily be rebooked free of charge.
3.5. For any kind of alteration to your booking, bear in mind that prices can differ and that you may have to pay additional charges.
3.6. Failure to arrive in the hotel on the planned date will be seen as a no-show. Your booking will then be cancelled, and you will be charged.
3.7. If a refund is given, payment will be made only on the debit card or credit card that was used to make the booking. If you cancel your booking within 48 hours of the check-in date, we will credit your account within ten days of the cancellation.
3.8. If you fail to make payment when you are required to do so, or are in breach of these conditions, we are entitled to cancel your booking with immediate effect by notifying you.
3.9. If an event occurs within our limits of responsibility, we may cancel your booking by notifying you (via e-mail) and/or refunding any payment made by you relating to this reservation to the debit card or credit card used to make the booking, including any extras and booking fees.
4. Arrival and departure
4.1. You can check in from 3pm on the planned arrival date. Check-out is possible until 11am. If you do not check out before 11am, we are entitled to charge you the overnight rate for the applicable room at that time.
4.2. If you would like to check in earlier or check out later, please ask at the reception desk. A fee of €15 applies to earlier check-in or later check-out. Options for earlier check-in or later check-out are always subject to availability.
4.3. Luggage can be stored securely and for free in the storage room.
5.1. Special requests will be dealt with as thoroughly as possible, but all room reservations are subject to availability.
5.2. Smoking is prohibited in the Piet Hein Eek Hotel, except in the designated smoking rooms outside the hotel. If you fail to adhere to this regulation, we can terminate your booking and we reserve the right to take further action. You will be liable to cover any costs incurred.
5.3. Pets are not allowed in the Piet Hein Eek Hotel.
5.4. The Piet Hein Eek Hotel strives to provide an equal service to our disabled guests. The hotel therefore has a lift and disabled toilet facilities in the shop on the ground floor.
5.5. You must treat the interior and the art and design within the hotel rooms with respect. You are not allowed to touch the artworks. Should damage occur, we can terminate your booking and charge you reasonable costs. You must inform us immediately of any damage to our hotel or accommodation.
5.6. You may not cause noise disturbance to other guests or our employees.
5.7. All room keys must be handed in upon check-out. If you fail to do so, we can charge you for a replacement key or lock if necessary. In the event that a key is not returned upon check-out, please contact the hotel to arrange for the keys to be returned.
5.8. If you fail to comply with the above rules, we may terminate your reservation during your stay and ask you to leave the hotel immediately. We are then entitled to retain the payment made to us for the booking in question. If we consider your non-compliance to be serious enough, we may not accept future bookings from you and/or refuse you admission to the hotel.
5.10. Complaints, questions and disputes. If you would like to make a complaint or have a question about your booking, you can always contact us via the hotel e-mail or call the reception desk. We will reply as soon as possible and usually within one day.
5.11. The Piet Hein Eek Hotel cannot be held responsible for any direct or indirect damage that may arise from the guest’s use of the room, including but not limited to damage, insurance, loss due to fire, theft or criminal behaviour.
5.12. You and your party must take good care of the room(s) and leave them in a clean and tidy condition at the end of your stay. Except for normal wear and tear, you are responsible for any damage caused to the room or its contents as a result of negligence, wilful neglect or irresponsible behaviour. Any damage must be reported to us immediately.
